Barrouallie Secondary takes sixth consecutive All Leeward Schools Athletics title

The Barrouallie Secondary School won its sixth consecutive title at the All Leeward Athletics Meet on Friday, March 3, at the Cumberland Playing Field. Despite valiant attempts by the other competing schools, the depth and quality of the Barrouallie Secondary School’s athletic squad was too much for the competition on the venue’s grass track.

Junior Girls champion, Arianna Miller of the Barrouallie Secondary School won gold in the Junior Girls 100 metres in 13.76 seconds; the 400 metres in 1 minute 13.52 seconds; the 200 metres in 30.35 seconds; and was part of the winning 4 X 200 metres relay quartet in a time of 2 minutes 09.95 seconds.

Daniel Ramie of the Barrouallie Secondary School, the Junior Boys champion, won gold in the Junior Boys 100 metres dash in 13.17 seconds; the 200 metres in 28.22 seconds; and took bronze in the 400 metres in a time of 1 minute 11.04 seconds. Barrouallie also dominated in the Intermediate Girls’ division with Kenesha Welcome taking gold in the 1,500 metres in a time of 6 minutes 05.25 seconds; and the 800 metres in 2 minutes 49.58 seconds.

The Barrouallie Secondary School’s Damari Roberts, the Intermediate Boys’ champion, took silver in the Intermediate Boys 400 metres in a time of 58.52 seconds, and gold in the 200 metre dash in a time of 24.91 seconds.

Ashtani Richards of the Barrouallie Secondary School who took the Senior Girls’ individual title won silver in the 1,500 metres in a time of 6 minutes 10.19 seconds and the 800 metres in 2 minutes 54.83 seconds; while Ajay Delpesche of the Petit Bordel Secondary School took the Individual Senior Boys title with gold in the 100 metres in 11.02 seconds, and the 200 metres in 22.76 seconds.

The Barrouallie Secondary School topped the Girls’ division with 304 points, followed by the Troumaca Ontario Secondary School in second spot with 183 points, and in third place was the Bethel High School on 168 points.

Barrouallie Secondary also lifted the Boys’ division amassing 242 points; in second place was the Petit Bordel Secondary School on 203 points; and the Troumaca Ontario Secondary School in third spot with 199 points.

In the combined team scores, the Barrouallie Secondary School amassed a total of 546 points, followed by the Troumaca Ontario Secondary School with 382 points, and in third spot, Petit Bordel Secondary School with 342 points.
