The St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation (SVGFF) has paid tribute to former national goalkeeper, Paul O’Garro who recently passed away.

“It has been recently brought to our attention about the passing of former National goalkeeper and dedicated son of the soil, Mr. Paul O’Garro,” a statement issued by the Federation’s general secretary states in part.

It went on to note that “Paul played for the GTM Life High Ball team from the 70’s to the 80’s and can be remembered for his contribution with the famous 1979 Vincy Heat team, the 1984 Windward Islands and OECS team and the 1992 Senior Male World Cup team, where he served in the capacity as the goal keeper coach”.

The Federation said O’Garro’s contribution to football “forms part of the much-revered landscape and folklore of Vincentian sporting achievements on the field of play”.

“The executive, staff and all of the SVG Football Federation extend condolences and best wishes to Paul O’Garro family, friends and the hundreds he positively impacted in his lifetime.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with you as we reflect on his contribution to the sport.” O’Garro passed away last weekend.
