In a thrilling U-19 cricket match in the Inter-Secondary Schools Cricket Competition on Wednesday at the Buccament Playing Field, the Barrouallie Secondary School (BSS) Warriors faced off against St Martin’s Secondary School, with BSS Warriors emerging as the clear victors.
The BSS Warriors won the toss and chose to bat first, posting a score of 131 runs in 19.2 overs.
The standout performers for BSS Warriors were LeBron Douglas, who made 30 runs, and Jorden Charles, who contributed 24 runs to the team’s total.
In response, St Martins Secondary School had a disastrous batting performance, getting bowled out for a mere 38 runs.
Watson Seaton was the pick of the bowlers for BSS Warriors, taking four wickets for 22 runs. Meanwhile, Trent Williams also put in a great bowling display, claiming 3 wickets for 13 runs.
Despite the early wicket of an opener, BSS Warriors managed to build a solid partnership in the middle overs, thanks to Douglas and Charles, who were able to find the boundary on a regular basis. However, their innings lost momentum towards the end, with the tail-enders failing to make a significant contribution.
Chasing a modest target of 132 runs, St Martins Secondary School got off to a shaky start, losing wickets at regular intervals.
BSS Warriors should be delighted with their performance, having put in a solid all-round display with both bat and ball. (contributed by Devon Charles)
