St Martin’s Secondary scores eight wicket victory over Intermediate High

IN ALMOST THE blink of an eye it was over. The St. Martin’s Secondary first with the ball and then the bat, took 14.2 overs to complete an eight-wicket victory over the Intermediate High School on Tuesday morning, February 7, at the Arnos Vale Two playing field, as another round of matches in the 2023 St.Vincent and the Grenadines Secondary Schools Under-15 Cricket Tournament continued.

Having won the toss, Intermediate High decided to take first knock and lost wickets in a seemingly never ending procession of batters. Leading the demolition crew was Olani Slack with outstanding figures of 6 wickets for 2 runs; while Jeremy Martin supported with 2 for 16.

The only scores of note were by Jamani Douglas with 4, and Juari Chance who made 3, as the rest of the scorecard was loaded with zeros, as the Intermediate High School totalled 33 all out off 9.5 overs.

In response, despite losing two quick wickets, St. Martin’s Secondary, led by Beau Hoyte with 11 not out, swiftly erased the target, reaching 34 for 2 in 4.3 overs. Olani Slack had a good all-round game, making 6 before he was trapped leg-before by Chance who was getting the ball to swing and seam.

Chance finished with 2 for 13 but it was too little too late as St. Martin’s had crossed over the line in dominant fashion over their Kingstown neighbours.
