Chatoyer Endurance 10K cancelled

Team Athletics SVG’s 2022 Road Racing season was cut short, following the cancellation of the North America, Central America and Caribbean Athletics Association (NACAC) Chatoyer Endurance 10K.

The event, which was last held in 2019, was set for a grand return last Sunday, November 27, but had to be shelved for another year.

Dubbed the World’s Most Challenging 10k, because of its hilly route, the event was cancelled for justifiable reasons, according to President of Team Athletics SVG- Keith Joseph.

In explaining the reason behind the cancellation, Joseph told SEARCHLIGHT “We did not get the NACAC support because we have not been able to justify the expenditure given the absence of non-Vincentian participation”.

Hence, Joseph added, “It will a be misnomer if we do not have participation outside of St Vincent and the Grenadines”.

Looking forward to the most anticipated run in the near future, Joseph told SEARCHLIGHT, “we have to engage in better planning at both the local and international level”.

International participation in the NACAC Chatoyer Endurance 10K began in 2015.

Since then there have been competitors from Kenya, Grenada, Dominica, St Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, Cuba, Jamaica, Martinique, Guadeloupe, and Barbados.
