Singles titles decided in schools’ Table Tennis championships

The singles champions of the Primary and Secondary Schools’ Table Tennis Championships were decided last Thursday, November 17, at the St Vincent Grammar School Assembly Hall.

Winning the female singles primary schools title was Loukhya Premaj of the Fair Hall Government, who defeated the Fancy Government’s Kiara Michael in the finals.
Premaj had it all her way, winning 11/4, 11/2.

In the male segment of the primary schools’ category, Oran-jay Williams from the Clare Valley Government School defeated the Layou Government’s Kalique Williams, 11/7, 11/7.

Taking the Female Singles title in the secondary schools’ category was the West St George’s Jessica Mc Carter ahead of the Girls’ High School’s Kiara Hazel.

Mc Carter who was part of the St Vincent and the Grenadines team to the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England in July/ August, won 11/6, 11/2, 11/4.

And, J’ Quan St. Hill of the Troumaca Ontario Secondary School edged out the St Vincent Grammar School’s Lamont Gregg in their thrilling finals which was taken into five sets.

In a ding- dong battle, St Hill won 3/11, 12/10, 6/11, 11/6, 14/12.

Premaj, Williams, Mc Carter and Gregg were voted the Most Outstanding Players in the championships.

Prior to last Thursday’s singles finals, Layou Government had won the primary schools’ male team title, and the Clare Valley Government were the male winners.

The West St George Secondary took both titles in the Secondary Schools’ Category.
