President of the HKF, Claude Bascombe Jr in his explanation of the undertaking noted that it formed part of the local parent body’s thrust in assisting its members where possible.

“We want to see the development of the sport, mainly the sporting aspect of Karate and we think that supplying the dojos with equipment [will] ultimately… develop and take us ahead to where we need to be in the future”, Bascombe Jr. commented.

He underlined that the equipment presented to the three clubs are geared mainly for development of the discipline at the youth level.

He also re-emphasised that it is imperative at this time to have an injection into the sport, since it like many other sectors, is recovering from the fallout caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
