North Leeward female softball cricket gets going

Carlos James Upsetters and United Survivors registered wins on Saturday, as the DMG Furniture North Leeward Female 20/20 Softball Cricket competition began in earnest at the Chateaubelair Playing Field.

Upsetters beat Golden Girls by four wickets. Golden Girls posted 163 for 4 from their 20 overs; Shernett Herbert scored 38 and Natifa Walters, 37.

Yolande Granderson, with 2 for 28, was the main wicket-taker for Upsetters.

Reduced to 15 overs because of rain, Upsetters were required to make 123 from 15 overs, and this they did with four wickets in hand.

Paula Robertson scored 24 and Clotilda Hooper, 23. Bowling for Golden Girls, Cassandra John had 2 for 22.

Hooper was adjudged player of the match.

And, United Survivors defeated Ball Burners by 13 runs.

In a 15-over affair, United Survivors scored 111 for 6. Jannilea Glasgow scored 25 and Cordel Jack, 22.

Ball Burners replied with 98 for 3 from their 15 overs. Zavian Stephens scored 32 and Denella Creese, 22. Cordel Jack scalped 2 for 16.

Glasgow got the nod over Jack, as player of the match.

Matches in the competition are slated for Saturday and Sunday.
