Two national swim records broken at Fina World Championships

Shane Cadogan and Jamie Joachim, St Vincent and the Grenadines’ representatives at the 9th FINA World Championships held from  June 18-25, at the Duna Arena in Budapest, Hungary were able to reset national records.
The 20 year -old Cadogan broke Alex Joachim’s  national open 50- meter freestyle record in a time of  24.57 seconds. The previous SVG record was 24.60 seconds.
 Similarly, 14 -year-old Joachim broke her own previous national female 13-14 age group record in the 100-meter backstroke in a time of 1:12.76 seconds.
 Cadogan and Joachim also contested the 100 freestyle.
 Cadogan timed 55.10 seconds in his heat, while Joachim’s time over the distance was 1:03. 14.
