The four places that were ups for grabs on the St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) Squash team for the XXII Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, July 28 to August 8, have been taken.

Securing the spots were Jason Doyle, Othniel Bailey, Jules Snagg and Jada Ross, who emerged from the selection process last weekend at the National Squash Centre at Paul’s Avenue.

Topping the men’s segment was Jason Doyle, who beat his three other opponents.

First up, Doyle registered an 11/7, 11/6, 11/5 win over Mikal Quammie in Friday’s opening salvo.

He returned on Saturday, April 23 to record another 3-0 win, this time over Othniel Bailey. Doyle won Bailey 11/9, 11/7, 11/7.

And, on Sunday, Doyle beat Jules Snagg 3-1( 13/11, 11/8, 3/11, 11/6).

Meanwhile, Bailey who finished second to Doyle, defeated Snagg, 11/5, 8/11, 11/5, 11/2 and stopped Quammie, 11/4, 11/6, 4/11, 11/4.

Snagg’s lone triumph came against Quammie, whom he won 11/2, 11/7, 11/2.

Jada Ross earned her maiden trip to the Commonwealth Games when she downed Amber Glasgow, as the two duelled for the lone female spot.

But it was a little more than a Sunday afternoon walk for Ross, who eventually trumped 11/8, 14/12, 6/11, 11/4, in front a cheering crowd at the National Squash Centre.

While it will be Ross’ debut at the Commonwealth Games, this is not the case for others. The three males were part of the 2014 Games in Scotland as well as the 2018 edition in Australia. Snagg though also attended the 2010 Games in India.

The Commonwealth Games takes place in Birmingham, England.

Apart from Squash, St Vincent and the Grenadines will be represented at the Games by athletes in Track and Field, Aquatics (Swimming) , Table Tennis and Cycling.
