CWSA locks off Coreas Distribution
The Central Water and Sewerage Authority (CWSA) lifted the title of Comsports Firms’ Invitational Football Champions when they whipped Coreas Distribution last Sunday.
The watermen won the inaugural title with a 2-0 victory on penalties in the competition which was held at the Comsports Facility at Arnos Vale.
Both teams played to a stalemate 0-0 in regulation time in the seven -a- side competition format using mini- goals.
It was the second day that the CWSA had to depend on penalties to triumph. On Saturday, they saw off RSVG Police 2-, after both teams drew nil-nil in regular time.
In the other semi-final Coreas Distribution registered a one-nil victory over RSVG Police.
In the awards ceremony that followed the finals, Jermain Spencer of Coreas Distribution was adjudged player of the finals. E.D Laynes’ Jamal Bishop, with seven goals, was the competition’s top goal scorer.
CWSA collected the winning trophy, $750 and the Challenge trophy which they will keep for one year. The second place trophy and $500 went to Coreas Distribution.
In addition, a player from each of the six competing teams, including Vinlec, was named his team’s MVP.
