Obed Mc Coy has been drafted to the Rajasthan Royals in last Sunday’s auction of the Indian Premier League(IPL).
Mc Coy thus has become the first Vincentian to be contracted to the lucrative T/20 tournament.
The 25-year-old, who made his T/20 international debut in 2019 has played 13 matches for the West Indies, taking 19 wickets at a cost of 16.84 runs. Fourteen of Mc Coy’s wickets came during his outings last year.
At Sunday’s auction, Mc Coy joined other West Indians who were drafted on the two days of selection.
They include Jason Holder, Evin Lewis and Kyle Mayers who went to the Lucknow Super Giants; Nicholas Pooran and Romario Shepherd, Sunrisers Hyderabad ; Dwyane Bravo, Chennai Super Kings; Shimron Hetymer, Rajasthan Royals; Dominic Drakes and Alzarri Joseph-Gujarat, Titans; and Odean Smith, Punjab Kings.
Also drafted were Rovman Powell, Delhi Capitals; Fabien Allen, Mumbai Indians; and Sherfane Rutherford,Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Kolkata Knight Riders had already retained West Indians Andre Russell and Sunil Narine, and Mumbai Indians Kieron Pollard.
The 2022 edition of the IPL takes place from April 2 to June 3.
