Junior CASA returns to SVG after more than 30 years

St Vincent and the Grenadines is earmarked to host the 2022 edition of the Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) junior championships from July 9-16, at the National Lotteries Authority Squash Centre, Paul’s Avenue.

It will be a return of the championships which was last held in Trinidad and Tobago in 2019.

But for St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), it will be the first time hosting the championships, since 1986, a wait of 36 years.

It was SVG that hosted the inaugural Junior CASA Championships in 1981.

Over the years, Vincentian junior Squash players have trumped titles, albeit sporadically.

The first to do so was Paul Cyrus, who copped the Boys Under-16 individual title in 1982 and successfully defended it in 1983.

Then in 2004, Diarra Venner secured the Boys Under-13 crown , followed by Kevin Hannaway’s hold in 2008.
Jason Doyle trumped the Boys Under-13 in 2010.

And, when the 2019 edition was held, Jayden George emerged as the Boys’ Under-11 champion.
