Squash to return in full swing for 2022

After a year of limited activities, Squash is set to return in a wholesome way in 2022, as the St Vincent and the Grenadines Squash Association has released its calendar for the next 12 months.

Among the activities listed are several national Squash championships, both at the Junior and Senior levels.

The championships agenda serves off March 15 to 18, with the Junior Classic, while the Junior National Championships are carded for April 28 to 30. The Senior National Championships is slated for May 23 to 27.

The Junior Graded Championships takes place June 9 to 11 and the Independence Championships is tentatively set for October 24 to 26.

Apart from the championships, plans are in train to resume the Junior Programme in January and September, as well as the Schools’ Programme in September and in August, the Summer Programme.

Regionally, St Vincent and the Grenadines is listed to be the venue for the XXXVIII Junior Caribbean Championships which has July 9 to 16 attached to it; while a SVG team will travel out to Jamaica for the XXVI Senior Caribbean Championships, August 21 to 27 and the Barbados Junior Open in November.

Also, during the year, the association will host its Annual General Meeting , scheduled for February 5, and will play its part in SVG’s hosting of the Queen’s Baton Relay , May 19 to 21 and the commemoration of Olympic Day, June 13.

Outside of the local and regional agendas, SVG intends to be part of the Pan-American Championships in Guatemala City April 3 to 9; the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, July 28 to August 8, along with the Canadian Junior Open and the US Junior Open in December.
