Dickson Village gets youth organisation

An idea hatched by Marlon Henry to assist the youths of the Dickson community, has given birth to the Friends of Dickson Inc.
The group was launched last Sunday at a ceremony held at the Dickson Methodist School.

Heading the group is president Marlon Henry, with Shafia London the vice -president, Keon Henry, treasurer, along with secretary/PRO, Noddie Snagg. The sports coordinator is James Browne and the committee members are Luon Henry and Cherry Quashie.

The aim of the Friends of Dickson Inc. is to provide a compass and support system for children of Dickson between the ages of 10 and 16 years.

Furthermore, the children to be enrolled in the programme may be from a disadvantaged background and at risk and ultimately the goal is for them to make the best decisions in life.

The programme runs every Saturday from 3 pm to 5 pm, with sports and music being the main vehicles for getting the youngsters engaged.

When fully in train, the participants will also be involved in group projects, receive mentorship, as well as insights into finance, conflict resolution, health care and career building.
