Athletes compete for NACAC Age Group selection

Several athletes have placed their names in contention for selection to the St Vincent and the Grenadines team to the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Age Group championships set for Nicaragua in December.

This, after the front runners emerged at a set of trials held last Friday and Saturday at the Diamond Track.

Topping the female Under-13 was Royal Solomon of High Performance, with Nyra De Shong of Mustangs following. Solomon tallied 1887 points and De Shong, 1422 points.

In the male Under-13, Shemron Gaymes of High Performance led with 2314 points, ahead of Michal Stapleton of Mustangs, with 1693 points.

The Under-13s did five events. The females competed in the 60m, 800m, long jump, high jump and baseball throw, while the males were engaged in the 60m, 100m, long jump, high jump and baseball throw.

Meanwhile, in the Under-15 segment, Zekisha Kelly was ahead of the pack with 2920, with Kacey Robinson of IT-DAT Academy second, with 2651 points. Jahene Williams bossed the male bracket, aggregating 4161 points. Trailing him was Israel Cumberbatch of X- Cel Track Club, on 3599 points.

The Under-15s competed in seven events. The female the 60m hurdles, 80m, 1000m, high jump, long jump, shot putt and baseball throw, while the males did the 80m hurdles, 80m, 1200m, long jump, high jump, shot putt and baseball throw.
