Greaves remains head of SVGCUA

GOALAND GREAVES was last Saturday at the Michael Findlay Pavilion at the Arnos Vale Playing Field, re-elected as President of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Umpires’ Association (SVGCUA).

Greaves beat Deighton Butler, 14-7, as the two squared off for the top post. Butler though contested the post in absentia, as he is officiating in the HERO Caribbean Premier League, taking place in St Kitts and Nevis.

Michael St Hillaire, Greaves’ deputy, was elected unopposed; so too were Secretary, Andy Baptiste and Kaman Greene, the Assistant Secretary. Baptiste, one of two new faces, takes over from the suspended Cornelius Edwards.

Meanwhile, Afram Byam remains as the association’s Treasurer, likewise Selwyn Allen, the Public Relations Officer.

And, Elron Lewis, the other newcomer on the Executive, saw off Colbert Mc Donald 13-8, in the run-off for the position of Committee Member.

Lewis thus adds another national sporting portfolio to his lot.

This, as he is President of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Referees Association and a Committee Member of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association Inc.

Additionally, Lewis is the President of the Jules Anthony Cricket Club, as well as Cricket Co-ordinator of the North Leeward Sports Association.

The elected executive will serve for two years.
