With the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic sill looming and the active nature of the La Soufriere volcano remaining a concern, Team Athletics SVG is slowing ramping up its track and field activities for the year.

This Saturday, a development meet dubbed, “Back to Happiness”, will be staged at the Diamond Track Facility, starting off at 2:30 pm.

According to Games Secretary of Team Athletics SVG Rawlson Morgan, the Back to Happiness Development Meet is primarily geared at preparing athletes for the Pan Am Juniors set for Cali, Colombia, November 25 to December 5, this year.

Morgan noted that with this in mind, an Under-18 Category will be used for Saturday’s meet, instead of Under-17.

Thus, events for Saturday’s Development Meet will include the 100, 200 and 1500m, as well as the Shot Putt, for those in the male and female Under-18 age group and the open category.

Meanwhile, Under-13 athletes will be catered for, as the males will compete in the 1000m and the females in the 800M, with both genders competing in the 80m.

Also, the Under-15 males and females will contest the 80m, the baseball throw, with the males running the 1200m and the females, the 1000m.
