Six Vincentians have made the final cut in the Windward Islands Volcanoes for the 2021 CG Insurance Super- 50 Cup, set for Antigua, February 7 to 27.
Leading the lot is Sunil Ambris, who is the team’s captain, along with fast bowlers Obed Mc Coy and Ray Jordan. Spinners, Keron Cottoy and Kenneth Dember, as well as batsman, Desron Maloney, complete the list of Vincentians.
Ambris’ deputy is Andre Fletcher of Grenada. The other Grenadians selected are Ryan John, Emmanuel Stewart, Roland Cato and Preston Mc Sween.
The 15-member team is completed by Kimani Melius and Larry Edward of St Lucia; Dominican, Allick Athanaze and Kevin Stoute of Barbados.
The Volcanoes’ management team is Andrew Richardson – head coach, Devon Smith – assistant coach, Floyd Reifer – consultant, Mario Christopher – physiotherapist and Avanesh Seeteram – performance analyst.
A release from the Volcanoes’ operations stated that Smith, a long-standing player of the Windwards, who has been named as assistant coach, will help with the batting.
The Windwards have on four regional limited over titles. Their first was in 1989 in the then Geddes Grant Shield along with the Red Stripe Bowl in 2000. The renamed Super – 50 titles were achieved in 2013 and 2018.
