Rivals off the mark in T/ 20 defence

FLOW Rivals, the defending champions of the SVG Cricket Association Inc. Neil Williams T/20 cricket competition, got off the mark in the 2020 edition, last Sunday at the Park Hill Playing Field.

Rivals’ victim was Vee Jay’s Roof Top and Bar North Windward .

Batting first, North Windward tallied 153 all out in 19.5 overs. Kirton Lavia scored 55 and Veno Da Souza, 52. Lindon James took 4 for 21 for Rivals.

But Rivals had suffered the indignity of losing by default on Saturday to Guardian General Saints in a match carded for the Sion Hill Playing Field.

Set a reduced target of 117 in 15 overs, Rivals reached 119 for 2 in 13 overs. Kensley Joseph, with 36 and Deighton Butler, 32, were the principal scorers.

North Windward on Saturday, were on their patio at Stubbs, when they feasted on Dominic Sutherland Lloyd Lewis Memorial Cricket Team by 108 runs.

Gareth Wilson smashed 91 and Phillip Baptiste, 81, to see North Windward to 231 for 4 in their 20 overs. Lawrence Ashton grabbed 3 for 44 for Dominic Sutherland Lloyd Lewis Memorial Cricket Team, who then reached 123 for 9 from their allotted 20 overs.

Lawrence Ashton topscored with 41. Kevin Sam bagged 4 for 20, bowling for North Windward.
