VPL sets up St Lucia T/10 blast

Patterning after the inaugural Vincy Premier League (VPL) hosted by the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association Inc. at the Arnos Vale Playing Field here last month, the St Lucia Cricket Association will from today, June 23, stage the St Lucia T/10 Blast.

Set for the Daren Sammy Cricket Stadium, like the VPL, Dream 11, a company out of India, will ensure that the tournament gets international coverage via live streaming.

The entire St Lucia T/10 Blast will be played behind closed doors, as the world is still battling with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Ten teams – Mon Repos, City Blasters, Gros Islet, South Castries, Soufriere, Mabouya Valley, Central Castries, Babonneau, Vieux Fort and Choiseul, will be vying for honours.

Each team has a maximum squad size of 15 players, inclusive of a marquee player and at least two players who must be under the age of 19.

The ten teams are divided into two groups of five, and they would battle in the preliminary round. The two top teams emerging from the two groups will advance to the semi-finals.

The semi-final winners will meet in the final carded for July 8.

Two matches will be played each day; bowling off at 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
