The first Vincentian footballer to land a professional contract, Rodney “Chang” Jack, has been named in the Caribbean best XI, as selected by regional sports television station SportsMax’s team of editors.

Jack, a diminutive striker, who mesmerised defenders, was selected in a 3-4-3 formation as a midfielder.

A former player with local club Stingers, Jack made his professional debut with Torquay United of England in 1995.

Jack then moved to Crewe Alexandra for a record transfer fee.

He was later on the roster of Rushden & Diamonds, Olham Athletic, Waterford United, Southport and Nantwich.

Making up the rest of the four-man midfield are Theodore Whitmore (Jamaica), Fitzroy Simpson (Jamaica) and Russell Latapy (Trinidad and Tobago).

The three forwards selected by the team of editors are Dwight Yorke (Trinidad and Tobago), Walter Boyd (Jamaica) and Stern John (Trinidad and Tobago).

Meanwhile, the three defenders making up the XI, are Emmerson Boyce (Barbados), Ian Goodison (Jamaica) and Ricardo Gardener (Jamaica).

And, named as the goalkeeper is Shaka Hislop (Trinidad and Tobago).

The team of editors also slotted in seven substitutes.

The substitute goalkeeper is Donavan Ricketts (Jamaica), with Deon Burton and Lindy Delapenha, both of Jamaica, as the forwards on the bench.

The Jamaica pair of Peter Cargill and Robbie Earle are the midfield extras, while Wes Morgan of Jamaica and Jocelyn Angloma of Guadeloupe, are the extra defenders.
