SVG names training squad for Windwards senior men’s cricket tournament
A POWERFUL 30-member squad, inculsive of three with West Indies experience, have been named for possible selection to the St Vincent and the Grenadines senior men’s team for the Windward Islands two day tournament set for next month in Grenada.
Among the 30 are Sunil Ambris, a West Indies test and ODI player, along with ODI and T/20 players Obed Mc Coy and Kesrick Williams.

But, recalled after years of absence from national representation, is Lindon James.
The 35-year-old James, who is a former SVG captain, has made himself available following a rich vein of batting form during the ongoing National Lotteries Authority premier division.
James, who plays for FLOW Rivals, has scored 376 runs thus far from six matches, including three 50s and a century.
Last year, James tallied 218 runs, and scalped 17 wickets.
Apart from James, another surprise inclusion is former SVG Under-19 player Rodrigo Thomas, who has played for Canada in the ICC world T/20 Americas qualifiers and in the regional super-50 tournament.
The full squad reads: Sunil Ambris, Romario Bibby, Atticus Browne, Shaquille Browne, Ray Charles, Keron Cottoy, Kenneth Dember, Dillon Douglas, Deron Greaves, Rasheed Fredericks, Tilron Harry, Jeremy Haywood, Shamon Hooper and Asif Hooper.
The squad is completed by Lindon James. Delorn Johnson, Ray Jordan, Darius Martin, Obed Mc Coy, Romano Pierre, Gidron Pope, Seon Sween, Andrew Thomas, Jeremy Layne, Rodrigo Thomas, Rickford Walker, Kesrick Williams, Rayon Williams and Geron Wyllie.
Apart from the 30 players, five Under-19 players will be part of the training squad.
The five are Solomon Bascombe, O’ Jay Matthews, Kemron Strough, Jahiel Walters and Luke Wilson.
With players’ fitness a key component, the final selection will hinge on the Yo – Yo Endurance test, which is a prequisite for those who make the final cut.
Deighton Butler is the team’s head coach, with Cleton Burnett, his assisant.
The Windwards Islands tournament takes place April 17 to 25.
