Marriaqua champion of champions softball competition in full swing
The inaugural Marriaqua champion of champions softball cricket competition being played at the Cane End Playing Field, is in full and gaining momentum.
When a double header was hosted last Saturday, there were wins for Sion Hill Tallawahs and Country Meet Town Out Ah Trouble.
Sion Hill Tallawahs registered a three-wicket win over BOSVG All Starz.
Batting first, All Starz made 118 for 5 from their 20 overs. Nanton Joseph scored 32 and Asquith Mapp, 29.
Manley Duncan then stroke 32 and Marlon Baptiste, 22, to see Sion Hill Tallawahs to 119 for 7 from 17 overs. Earl Pope, with 4 for 29, was All Starz’ most successful bowler.
Then, Out Ah Trouble defeated Glen United 39 runs.
Out Ah Trouble, batting first, made 103 all out in 19.4 overs. Rockeem Roberts had 4 for 12 and Troy Harry, 2 for 15.
But the Glen United batsmen were undone by the bowling of Sunil James, who bagged 4 for 19 and Shemroy Primus, 2 for 9, as they folded for 64 all out in 13 overs.
Apart from the champion of champions competition, there is the Marriaqua Village Cup, which is contested on Sundays.
In the Marriaqua Village Cup, there were wins on Sunday for Enhams, Jackson Trading One Team and Country Meet Town Freeland.
Enhams beat Cane End by seven runs. Scores: Enhams – 106 for 7, Cane End – 99 all out.
Meanwhile, Jackson Trading One Team Richland Park beat Dr Thomas Yambou. Yambou: 75 all out, Richland Park, 78 for 9. Wendell Corrridon had 7 for 19, bowling for Yambou.
And, Freeland defeated Carriere by 95 runs. Freeland – 166 for 6, Carriere, 71 all out.
