SVG Netball Association elects new executive
THE ST VINCENT and the Grenadines Netball Association (SVGNA), last Tuesday at the Thomas Saunders Secondary School, elected its executive to serve the organisation to 2022.
Remaining as president was Doris Mc Intosh, who beat Natasha Stapleton 23-10, in the run-off for the top position.
But Stapleton, who was the incumbent in the position of first vice-president, was also defeated, as she vied to remain in that portfolio.
Hence, the new first vice-president is Simone Richardson, who clipped Stapleton 18-14.
Another new face holds the post of second vice-president, as Sharlene Wyllie bettered O’ Neil Cockburn 19 votes to 13.
But the positions of treasurer, secretary and public relations officer, were uncontested .
Installed as treasurer was previous holder of the post, Jacintha Ballantyne, while Silma Millington takes over the duties of secretary, while Juovanie Roberts got the job of public relations officer.
Returning as games secretary after serving as committee member in the last executive is Cheryl Alexander.
In the square-off for the games secretary position, Alexander defeated Thelma Foster 18-14.
And, the two committee members are O’ Neil Cockburn and Pearlina Thomas, both of whom held those positions before.
Mc Intosh will be serving the last of her two-year term, as she has been in the president’s position since 2016. She was president from 2004 to 2010.
