Two centuries highlight masters cricket weekend
Two centuries, both scored at the Park Hill Playing Field on Sunday, highlighted last weekend’s matches in the SVG Masters’ 20 /20 cricket competition.
First, it was Gareth Wilson who scored 113 in North Windward’s total of 199 for 3 from their 20 overs versus AR & D Trucking Ptani.
In response, Ptani scored 181 for 9 from their 20 overs. Isaac Haywood hit 42, Alfred McKenzie, 31, Jerome Samuel, 30 and Cassius Welcome, 25.
Selwyn Lavia and Gareth Wilson, both scalped two wickets each, as North Windward won by 18 runs.
Then, Elton Williams stroked 119, to lead North East to 299 for 3 against Stanley Dalzell Park Hill.
Olanzo Jackson scored 75, Deighton Butler, 50 not out and Harvey Pope, 30, added to Williams’ ton.
Park Hill replied with 115 all out in 18.2 overs. Recardo Thomas scored 22.
Deighton Butler grabbed 4 for 12 and Dyke Cato, 3 for 23, as North East won by 184 runs.
It was North East’s second win on the weekend, as on Saturday at the Sion Hill Playing Field, they registered a six-wicket win over Stanley Browne’s Stubbs.
Batting first, Stubbs made 80 for 9 from their 20 overs, with Harvey Pope taking 4 for 12, Deighton Butler, 2 for 8 and Winsbert Springer, 2 for 11.
Elton Williams scored 24 and Jofloyd John, 20, which saw North East to 84 for 4 from 16.5 overs.
Kissinger Mc Lean picked up 2 for 13, bowling for Stubbs.
North East in their derby versus Stanley Dalzell Park Hill on Sunday at the Park Hill Playing Field, went on a run fest, posting 299 for 3 from their 20 overs.
Like North East, defending champions Mustique remain unbeaten in the competition, as they blotted RSVG Police’s unbeaten run, by winning by five wickets on Sunday at the Mustique Playing Field.
Gosnel Cupid scored 38, Elmore Alexander, 29 and Parnel Browne, 25, which saw Police to 135 for 8 from their 20 overs.
Bowling for Mustique, Michael Charles had 3 for 13 and Oneil Thomas, 3 for 33.
Nicholas Baptiste then stroked 50, as Mustique responded with 142 for 5 from 19.1 overs.
Gerald Gould and Kenroy Martin took two wickets each.
And on Saturday, Memorial Funeral Home North Leeward bettered their position with a 79-run win over Belfongo at Buccament.
Batting first, North Leeward got to 168 for 9 from their 20 overs. William “Buddy Willie” Williams scored 80 and Alfie Gould, 45.
There were two wickets each for Jecima Browne and Sylvannus Morgan.
Belfongo’s reply was 89 all out from 14 overs. Junior Bacchus contributed 21.
Lenniff Hector had 5 for 20 and Noel Samuel, 2 for 21, bowling for North Leeward.
