Close to 70 teams to take part in 2019 Round D Town road relay
Team Athletics SVG is expecting close to 70 teams for the annual Round D Town road relay, which has been reset for October 13, from 3 p.m.
In 2018, 35 of the 38 entrants completed the race.
Originally carded for September 22, the event was postponed because of the national shutdown triggered by the then passage of Tropical Storm Dorian.
When the 2018 edition was staged, Fitz Hughes Primary School copped both the male and female titles of the primary schools’ division.
Winning the male category of the secondary school division was the St Vincent Grammar School and the female bracket went to the Troumaca Ontario.
Experience took the open male category and IT-DAT Academy, the open female.
The four-leg race saw each leg beginning and ending directly in front of First Caribbean International Bank on Halifax Street.
From the start point, athletes headed up to Sharpe Street, then onto Bay Street, with the primary school participants turning on to Higginson Street and the others to Linley Street, on to Back Street, then back to the start point.
