Young Vincentian cricketer off to Australian club

Young Vincentian cricketer Rayan Williams has been afforded an opportunity to play for Mill Park Cricket Club in Melbourne, Australia.

Williams, 19, a right-arm fast bowler, will be guest of the club for the next six months.

His stint has been realised by contacts made by former St Vincent and Grenadines, Windwards and West Indies, left-arm fast bowler Kenroy Peters. 

Williams, who hails from Glamorgan, plans to make full use of the sojourn in Australia. 

“I am looking forward to build on my game… I am looking forward to build a bond with the team, making sure that they like me … I want to make sure that I can get to go back and perform as well as possible,” Williams projected.

Williams, who represents Guardian General Saints in the local cricket competition, has also played for St Vincent and the Grenadines at the Under-15, Under-19 and senior levels, as well as for the Windwards Under-19s.

Williams’ trip to Australia has been made possible through contributions from the SVG Cricket Association Inc., Bank of SVG, Friends of Female Cricket, Coreas Food Department and the manager of American Airlines.
