Bequia youth footballers help clean Playing Field
After commuting from Bequia to the mainland for the past three Saturdays to be part of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation’s national Under-13 football competition, members of the Bequia United team, decided to add another activity to their weekly schedule.
Last Saturday, the players, along with the coaching staff and parents, offered some community service by ridding the Grammar School Playing Field of debris.
The Grammar School Playing Field is the host venue for the zone, which Bequia United, is one of seven teams.
Marlon James, who is one of this country’s sports ambassadors, indicated that the initiative was borne of their concern for the aesthetics of the environment that they have to reside for the period they are on the mainland.
“We dwell here every Saturday, and we don’t like the amount of litter we see, so we decided to help,” James informed.
James said that the carrying out of that community, is part of the holistic development of the players on team, who are young and impressionable.
