Zefal Bailey continues to dominate local cycling
Zefal Bailey, simply flicked over the calendar from 2018 to 2019, as he again was the fastest to get from Arnos Vale to Belvedere, last Sunday morning, in the Time Trial put on by the SVG Cycling Union.
Making his mark on the opening race for the year, Bailey’s winning time was 10 minutes 18.89 seconds.
He therefore bettered his 10 minutes 28.08 seconds, done a year ago in the same event.
Bailey was though almost one minute faster than second place Albert Quammie, who was timed at 11 minutes 56.59 seconds, over the distance.
Taking the third spot was Dylano Wilson, in a time of 11 minutes 56.59 seconds.
Sherwin James (12 minutes 37.72 seconds) was fourth, while Carlos Rebes’ 12 minutes 64.36 seconds, placed him fifth.
The other two competitors were Stephen Ferdinand and Michael Hazel, who clocked 14 minutes 08.71 seconds and 16 minutes 76 seconds, respectively.
Having the time trial as a warm-up, cyclists will saddle up this Sunday, in a 65-mile event from Kingstown to Langley Park, back to the Arnos Vale Round About, then to Diamond, twice, before finishing at the Sion Hill Intersection.
