SVG bags sixty-six medals at OECS Swimming championships

Sixty medals were hauled in by St Vincent and the Grenadines at the 28th OECS Swim Championships, which were held at the Vipers Pool in Landsford, in St John’s, Antigua.

The Vincentians’ medal tally was composed of 13 gold, 19 silver and 34 bronze.

Heading up St Vincent and the Grenadines’ medal count was Shne Joachim, who prized 3 gold, 3 silver and a bronze, competing in the females 15 to 17 age group.

Shne’s brother, Alexander Joachim, bagged 2 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze, in the male 13 to 14.

Also adding to the Vincentians’ gold haul was Zariel Nelson, who pouched 2 gold, along with a silver and 2 bronze. Nelson contested the female 9 to 10.

Nelson was also instrumental in St Vincent and the Grenadines gaining 2 gold medals in the females 10-and-under relays.

St Vincent and the Grenadines finished fourth in the championships on 955 points, behind Grenada, Antigua and Barbuda and St Lucia, in that order.

Grenada topped the standings on 1,485 points, St Lucia was second with 1,325 points and St Lucia was third on 1,167.

St Maarten and Sint Martin, were the other countries which contested the championships.
