Windward Islands look to improve at CWI U-19

The Windward Islands Under-19 team will be looking for an improved effort, when the 2018 Cricket West Indies tournament opens this Friday, here in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Johann Jeremiah–led team, which also includes Tahj Taveneir Vice-Captain, Teddy Bishop, Jahseon Alexander, Jaheil Walters, Kimani Melius, Micah Joseph, Lincoln Durand, Jeron Noel, Daneal Dupigny, Johnnel Eugene, Simeon Gerson, Shamil Lewis and Rayan Williams, began a training camp last Saturday.

Practice matches versus local teams last Saturday and Monday at the Stubbs Playing Field, along with nets sessions at the Wilf Slack Nets at the Arnos Vale Playing Field and fielding sessions, formed the core of the camp.

The tournament comprises a three–day competition from August 3 to August 13, to be followed by the one-day competition from August 16 to 29.

Windwards will open their campaign in the three-day format versus Trinidad and Tobago, August 3 -5, at Park Hill, then face off against Jamaica, August 7-9 at Arnos Vale One.

Then from August 11-13, the Windwards will engage the Leewards at Sion Hill.

Barbados and Guyana are the other competing units.

Canada will join the six regional teams in the one-day format, which would be played on a round robin basis.

The Windwards management team is made up of Randel Baptiste – manager and Sam Cirnan – Coach.
