Zefal Bailey second in Antigua 51 mile cycling race
Zefal Bailey returned a time of was 2 hours 23 minutes 51.03 seconds, to finish on the podium in second place, in the elite division of the Antigua and Barbuda Workers Union / Antigua and Barbuda Cycling Federation 51-mile cycle race.
Held last Sunday and utilising the roads around Antigua, Bailey had to settle for one place below veteran cyclist Robert Marsh of the host country.
Marsh’s winning time was 2 hours 23 minutes 41.04 seconds. Another Antiguan, Jeffrey Kelsick, completed the top three.
Kelsick’s time over the distance was 2 hours 33 minutes 52.69 seconds.
Bailey, Marsh and Kelsick pocketed cash awards, along with plaques, for their placings.
Another Vincentian, Samuel Lyttle, placed eighth of ten entrants, with a clocking of 2 hours 44 minutes 6.13 seconds.
Apart from the elite division, there were the junior male, female, masters and sports/cadets categories.
