Local swimmers test skills at CGM Gallagher Swim Championships
Local swimmers were able to gauge their progress when the St Vincent and the Grenadines Swimming Federation staged the 2018 CGM Gallagher Swim Championships at the Shrewsbury Aquatic Centre, from February 16 -18.
When the pools were cleared and the points tallied, it was Eltonique Leonard who was declared winner of the females 8-and-under category. Leonard is a member of the Black Sands Swim Squad.
On the other side of the gender, in the 8-and-under, it was Hazen Dabriel of Blue Marlins who took the championship.
Another Blue Marlins swimmer, Kennice Greene, won the femalesâ 9-10 category, with Black Sands Swim Squadâs Brandon George that age groupâs male champion. Further up the age brackets, it was all Black Sands Swim Squad.
Mya De Freitas took the females 11-12 and Elonte Leonard, the male 11-12, while in the 13 -14, it was Akalya Crichton, the female champion and Alex Joachim, the male winner.
Meanwhile, Shne Joachim swam away with the females 15-and-over and Shane Cadogan was the male champion in that category.
Sprint champions
Taking the 8-and-under female sprint champion title was Eltonique Leonard and Hazen Dabriel was the male sprint champion of that age bracket.
Tavonte Forde of Rising Stars Swim Team of Bequia emerged the male 9 to 12 sprint champion, with Mya De Freitas, copping the female crown.
The winner of the females 13-and-over sprint championship was Shne Joachim and the Shane Cadogan won the male side.
Black Sands Swim Squad, with the largest contingent, were the championshipsâ winners, with Blue Marlins, second.
Salt Pond Snappers of Owia, the Rising Stars Swim Team of Bequia and Barbadosâ Pirates Swim Club, were the other participating units.
