Sancho Lyttle to facilitate camp for female basketballers

Vincentian–born professional basketballer Sancho Lyttle will be the main facilitator at a three–day High School All Girls Basketball Camp, staged by the St Vincent and the Grenadines Basketball Federation, in conjunction with the Sunshine Basketball Academy.

The free camp is set for the St Joseph’s Convent Kingstown hard court facility, from this Thursday to Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to noon each day.

Lyttle will use the three days to lend her knowledge and expertise accumulated from playing professionally in the USA and Europe.

Lyttle represented St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) as an Under-16 netballer, as well as in track and field, before heading out to the USA on a basketball scholarship.

This facilitated a brief appearance for SVG in basketball.

After attending Clarendon College and the University of Houston, Lyttle embarked on a professional basketball career.

From 2005 to 2008, Lyttle played for the Houston Comets in the WNBA in the USA before moving to the Atlanta Dream in 2009, to the present.

Lyttle is also part of the Euroleague, representing Spanish clubs Halcon Avenida (2009 -2011) and Ros Casares (2011-2012).

A sting with Turkish club Galatasaray (2012-2015) and UMMC Ekaterinburg of Russia for the 2016 and 2017 seasons map out Lyttle’s journey.

A naturalized citizen of Spain since 2010, Lyttle, a former student of the St Vincent Girls’ High School, has participated in two world championships for her adopted country.

She, however, missed out representing Spain at the 2016 Rio Olympics in Brazil, after picking up a toe injury in the WNBA.(RT)
