Team Rivals, Victors One stay unflawed in national Twenty/20

Team Rivals and Victors One are the two unbeaten teams in the National Lotteries Authority Neil Williams 20/20 Cricket Competition, after three rounds of the Super Six.

The two had back-to-back wins last Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, Team Rivals scored 133 for 7 against Providence Electronic Solutions North Leeward, at the Sion Hill Playing Field. Husani Porter and Deighton Butler both made 28.

Shammon Hooper bagged 4 for 20 and Allison Samuel, 2 for 17, bowling for North Leeward.

Casmond Walters then clamped 4 for 13 and Olanzo Jackson, 2 for 10, to send North Leeward packing for 80 in 17.5 overs. Benniton Stapleton hit 24.

Team Rivals returned on Sunday at Arnos Vale One to hand the defending champions their second loss in this phase.

Rivals made 122, with Hyron Shallow scoring 55 and Casmond Walters, 24. Dyke Cato snared 3 for 23 and Andy Harper, 2 for 16.

Radcliffe were shackled for 110 for 7 from their 20 overs. Lindon James top scored with 31.

Deighton Butler was the pick of Rivals’ bowling, taking 4 for 11, as his team won by 12 runs.

Similarly Victors One had their way in their matches on the weekend.

Squaring off against Guardian General Saints at Arnos Vale Two on Saturday, Saints made 150 for 8. Seon Sween compiled 68, laced with 4 fours and 6 sixes, and Sunil Ambris, 28. Alston Bobb grabbed 3 for 28 and Norlan Williams, 2 for 10.

Atticus Browne followed up with a polished 69 (6×4, 2×6) and Miles Bascombe had 1 four and 6 sixes in his 42, to pilot Victors One to 151 for 2, to trump by eight wickets. Rolando Wright took both wickets at the cost of 19 runs.

Victors One stayed perfect on Sunday, making light work of Smashers at the Sion Hill Playing Field.

Miles Bascombe cracked 64 and Chrisroy John, 38, as Victors One piled on 186 for 3 from their 20 overs. Marvin Harry had 2 for 26.

Smashers fell apart for 83. Jordan Corridon stroked 24 not out, while Alston Bobb picked off 4 for 21, Shaquille Browne, 2 for 13 and Norlan Williams, 2 for 17, as Victors One won by 103 runs.

It was Smashers’ second defeat over the weekend, having been downed by Radcliffe on Saturday by eight wickets at Arnos Vale One.

Smashers managed 101 for 9 from their 20 overs, led by Kirton Lavia’s 25 and Javon Samuel’s, 22.

Gidron Pope picked off 3 for 20 and Othneil Lewis, 2 for 23, bowling for Radcliffe.

Leading Radcliffe’s response of 152 for 2 were Romano Pierre, 41 not out and Wayne Harper, 29.

And, Saints on Sunday got by North Leeward at Arnos Vale Two by four wickets.

Shammon Hopper led North Leeward’s total of 150, as he struck 61.

Saints’ bowling saw Sunil Ambris taking 3 for 28 and his elder brother Romel Currency, 2 for 19.

Saints replied with 152 for 6. Jerron John was 41 not out and Sunil Ambris, 39.

Winston Samuel took 2 for 17 and Vidal Edwards, 2 for 36, bowling for North Leeward.

Rounds four and five are set for this weekend, with the two top teams facing off in the final, slated for March 4.
