Bailey seeking place on world’s cycling committee
President of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cycling Union and the Caribbean Cycling Federation Trevor Bailey will be seeking to be part of the directorship of the International Cycling Union (UCI).
Bailey, along with Jorge Ovidio González of Colombia, Artemio Leonett of Venezuela and Bob Scapleton of the United States, are in the mix for the lone post.
Reports are that Bailey is the first from the Caribbean who will bid for a place on the members committee of directors of the UCI.
Bailey, at the recently held Pan American Cycling Confederation (COPACI) conference, held in Cuba, was re-elected as one of the confederationâs vice-presidents for the next quadrennium, which runs until 2021.
Meanwhile, Cuban José Manuel Peláez was re- installed as president, with fellow Cubans â Pedro FrÃas Armenteros, elected as secretary-general and Héctor FermÃn Marcos Gutiérrez as treasurer.
President of the UCI Brian Cookson chaired the COPACI conference, which adopted several resolutions.
