NEFL ends Sunday; Je Belle Chapmans take KO title
The 2016/2017 National Lotteries Authority Hairoun North East Football League shuts down this Sunday at the Chili Playing Field, with the final of the league title.
However, last Sunday, Je Belle Chapmans left the venue a joyous bunch, when they slammed four past LP Boys of neighbouring community Langley Park.
All four of Je Belle Chapmansâ goals were scored in the second half, as both Hosni Chandler and Brandon Johnson hit braces.But LP Boys, unlike Je Belle Chapmans, still have a crack of the league title.
LP Boys had advanced to the semi-final stage, thanks to a 2-0 win over SV United, while Je Belle Chapmans were pounded 3-0 by Bruce Law Chambers Sparta, thus exiting the league competition.
Keno Matthews, Curtland Jack and Kendol Douglas registered items for Sparta.Also advancing to the last four were PYOLA and Je Belle.
PYOLA overcame Ballerz United 5-4 in kicks from the penalty spot after they and Ballerz United played to a stalemate in regulation time.And, Je Belle ousted Biabou United 1-0, which set up a semi-final meeting with LP Boys.
The last pathway to Sundayâs final was set for last Wednesday and Thursday. Sparta and PYOLA were set for a showdown on Wednesday, while LP Boys and Je Belle were carded for Thursday.
The two winners thus will advance to Sundayâs grand finale, with the presentation ceremony following thereafter.
The 2016/2017 tournament was hosted on a redone Chili Playing Field, which is now adorned with a pavilion, dressing rooms, storage and other amenities.
