SVG Over 35’s Masters Football heading to quarter-finals
The National Lotteries Authority SVG Over 35âs Masters Football Competition will enter the quarter-final stage following this eveningâs last round of preliminary matches at the Victoria Park.
Calliaqua head up Group A with 10 points, followed by SESCO, also on 10 points. Docked in third place are The Expendables of Barrouallie and defending champions, South Leeward, who are both on nine points.
Meanwhile, Computec Vincy Masters lead Group B on 15 points; tied on second are Sion Hill and Layou on 10 points. Bequia sit on fourth on six points.
The Expendables, Calliaqua, Layou, Bequia and Computec Vincy Masters have a chance to better their points tally, as they will be involved in this eveningâs fixtures.
The Expendables and Calliaqua are listed to meet in todayâs first fixture, to be followed by Layou versus Bequia.
Vincy Masters, however, have an unassailable lead and will end as winners of Group B.
The quarter-final matches will see the first teams in the groups facing the fourth places in the other group, while the second places meet the third places, across the groups.
When the competition saw its penultimate round of matches last Thursday, Layou and Sion Hill drew, 2-2.
Osbert Richards and Carlos Richards scored a goal each for Sion Hill, and Lawrence Joseph netted both goals for Layou.
A goal each by Rohan Stephens, Curtis Joseph, Bertram Pitt and Angus De Shong gave SESCO a 4-nil win over Vintage Gold and, the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police won by default over North East.(RT)
