Richland Park Netball Competition to open Sunday, minus defending champions

The Richland Park Netball Competition, staged by the Valley Sports Committee, is set to get going this Sunday, January 15 at the Richland Park Government School from 4 p.m.

However, last year’s champion LP Combine will not be part of the 2017 competition.

Reports are that LP Combine has cited “unavailability” of some of its players, which has caused them to opt out.

Organizers are expecting nine teams to seek honours and go after the $1,500 cash prize which awaits the winning team. Second place gets $1,000 and third place, $700.

Sunday’s opening is set to commence at 4 p.m. with the march past of teams, as well as remarks from Government and netball officials.

A 10-minute elimination competition will take care of the rest of the afternoon into evening proceedings.(RT)
