National Select XI retain Lennox John trophy

To bowl off the 2017 national cricket season, a festival match between a President’s XI and a National Select XI was played on Saturday, also at the Arnos Vale One.{{more}}

Played in a festive typesetting, the National Select XI, batted first and posted 164 for 9 from their 20 overs.

Casmond Walters stroked 61, in which he laced 3 fours and 5 sixes In his knock, Gidron Pope contributed 36 and Jerron John – 24.

Bowling for the President’s X1, Ray Jordan had 2 for 6 and Miles Bascombe – 2 for 14.

At their turn at the crease, the President’s XI laboured to 135 for 7 in 19.2 overs, when bad light halted play.

Miles Bascombe with 40, made up of 3 fours and the same number of sixes, Lindon James – 35 and Kishore Shallow – 26 were the main run makers.

Jeremy Layne – 2 for 6, Kenneth Dember – 2 for 9 and Casmond Walters – 2 for 12, bowled their team to a 29-run triumph and another hold of the Lennox John trophy.
