SVG Community College football team on Carriacou tour

A 22-member SVG Community College select football team will tour Carriacou for six days to engage teams on that Grenada sister isle in three matches.

The team and three officials are set to arrive in Carriacou tomorrow, Saturday, January 7, via Union Island, where their first assignment will be against Hill Top Ballers.

On Sunday, the college will face off against Laureston Ballers and on Tuesday, meets Uprising Youths.

The touring SVG Community College team is made up of Cheslon Hendrickson, Sherwyn Alexander, Erel Hector, Jowan Sawyers, Javal Samuel, Shaquille Barbour, Najima Burgin, Kemane Phillips, Aron Cupid, Kyron Prince, Shemroy Yorke, Sachin James, Shamar Barbour, Lesron Craigg, Lesburt Jeffery, Jahmar John, Hosni Chandler, Kewon Clarke, Ishmael Peters, Kaicy Peniston, Gidson Francis and Deron Hamlet.

The team is being coached by Wesley Charles with Roxell John as manager and Koyana Horne as assistant manager and match official.

This is the first of three overseas tours which the SVG Community College sports department is hoping to realize during the second semester.

Next up is the college’s planned debut at the famed Penn Relays in April and a return to the Sir Garfield Sobers cricket tournament in Barbados in July.(RT)
