SVG slips further on FIFA world rankings

St Vincent and the Grenadines’ football got an unwelcome Christmas gift last Thursday.

When the December World FIFA men’s rankings were unwrapped, St Vincent and the Grenadines was in position 179.

St Vincent and the Grenadines attained its best FIFA rankings of 73rd in November, 2007.

But this latest December position represents a slippage of two places from the November rankings, thus making it the worst to date.

Regionally, St Vincent and the Grenadines closes off the year at 17th in the Caribbean Football Union’s (CFU) table and 27th at the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association of Football (CONCACAF).

Haiti is the number one ranked CFU team, with Costa Rica heading up CONCACAF.

The FIFA top team for December is Argentina.

FIFA’s next rankings will be released January 12, 2017.
