Teams, individuals get schools’ football awards
Teams and individuals got rewarded for coming up trumps in the various categories of adjudication in this yearâs schoolsâ football tournament.
The tournament ended last Friday afternoon at the Victoria Park, with the staging of the three finals, followed by the awards and presentation ceremony.{{more}}
Taking the primary schoolsâ player of the finals award was the St Maryâs Roman Catholicâs Delaon Benjamin, while the Barrouallie Secondaryâs Ali Hannaway and Asrick Walters were the junior and senior divisionsâ most valuable players, respectively.
Adjudged the best goalkeeper in the primary category was Kingstown Preparatory Schoolâs Jahfari Samuel, while the awardees in the junior and senior categories were the Central Leewardâs pair of Jellano John and Terique Thompson.
There was a tie for the top goal scorerâs award in the primary division, with the St Maryâs Roman Catholicâs David Holder and Amran Thomas of the Diamond Government, both scoring six goals.
Cleon Westfield of the Petit Bordel Secondary with eight goals was the top goal scorer in the junior division, while Intermediate High Schoolâs Jante James was the senior top scorer, with 10 goals.
The Georgetown Secondary topped Zone A of the junior and senior divisions; so too did the Intermediate High School in Zone B of both divisions, as well as Barrouallie Secondary in Zone D.
Bethel High School won Zone C of the junior division, while Dr JP Eustace Memorial came out on top of Zone C of the senior component.
The zonal winners in the primary division were Georgetown Government â Zone A; St Maryâs Roman Catholic â Zone B, Kingstown Government â Zone C and Barrouallie Government â Zone D.(RT)
