When the tournament shut down last Friday at the Victoria Park, the St Maryâs Roman Catholic and the Barrouallie Secondary were the triumphant bunches.
First to taste victory was the St Maryâs Roman Catholic, who added another defeat to the Kingstown Preparatory School, as the primary schoolsâ title was decided.
A goal from Delaon Benjamin in the first minute and one from David Holder in the 20th minute sealed the win for St Maryâs, as Kingstown Preparatory had to settle for second place again, having been beaten by the Lodge Village Government in last yearâs final.
Double delight for Barrouallie Secondary Barrouallie Secondary then bossed both the junior and senior divisions, with wins over the Petit Bordel Secondary and the Dr JP Eustace Memorial, respectively.
Two items from Ali Hannaway in the sixth and 49th minutes, with Javil Hunte converting in the 11th minute, and an own goal, netted by Petit Bordelâs Kaif Westfield, left Barrouallie to run out winners, in a lopsided 4 â 0 match.
More success was to stay with the Barrouallie Secondary, as they silenced Dr JP Eustace Memorial 2-0 in the senior encounter. Maintaining their form from the preliminaries and the knockout stages, the Barrouallie outfit looked the better bunch on the day. Leading from the front, Barrouallieâs captain Deondre Charles rose above all in the 37th minute to head home his teamâs first goal. Then, in the 64th minute, Gareth Leigertwood made good of a rebound, to double his teamâs margin, which stayed to the sound of the final whistle.
The win by Barrouallie left Dr JP Eustace Memorial to again be the runner-up. In 2015, Dr JP Eustace was runner-up to Georgetown Secondary.
Also in 2015, the St Martinâs Secondary School took the junior division title.(RT)
