TASVG hands over track and field equipment to NSC
Team Athletics SVG last Wednesday handed over a quantity of equipment to the National Sports Council (NSC).
The equipment will be used to provide several communities with their own stock of track and field implements.
This is part of Team Athletics SVGâs four-year plan in which community-based organizations will use the equipment in unison with trained coaches, technical officials and administrators, thus ensuring sustainable growth and development of track and field.{{more}}
Called Team Athletics SVG Athletics Olympic Dividend Project (TAODP), two zones â Layou and Sandy Bay â have already been established. Two zones would be established in any given year for the life of the project.
The structure of the TAODP entails TASVG having a Coordination Committee that would liaise with the NSC for the full implementation of the project.
In addition, there is also a designated project coordinator from TASVG to ensure that it is conducted in the appropriate manner.
According to TASVG, âThe collaboration with the NSC is to ensure that there is in place a Zonal Committee that would manage each zone and ensure that all the requirements for the development of track and field athletics are provided over time, thereby leading to a broad-based development of the sport across St Vincent and the Grenadinesâ.
And, based on the established area management committees, which the NSC continues to fuse into its operations, inclusive of the TASVG designated Athletics Zone coordinator.(RT)
