This was Halbich and Defreitasâ first time competing at this level and both young men represented St Vincent and the Grenadines well, swimming personal best times in their events.
SVGâs very own Caribbean Champion Shné Joachim took her experience to the World Championships, swimming personal best times in every event and finishing a respectable 37th out of over 80 swimmers entered in the 50m breaststroke. Shné swam a time of 32.43 seconds, setting a new national record that will be very hard to beat.
Whilst at the event, the three swimmers were able to witness many world records being broken by swimmers like South Africaâs Chad LeClos. They were able to give their support to Jamaicaâs Alia Atkinson, who took a silver and bronze medal in two of her races.
