System Three, Bequia United head to CFU Club Championships

Reigning national club champions System Three and runner up – Bequia United will represent St Vincent and the Grenadines in the preliminary round of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championships.

When the group stages get going in 2017, System Three, who first entered the competition in 2010, will be drawn alongside San Juan Jabloteh of Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname’s SV Transvaal and Slingerz FC of Guyana.{{more}}

In the case of debutants Bequia United, they will have to contend with defending champions Central FC of Trinidad and Tobago, as well as Alpha United of Guyana and Inter Moengo Tapoe of Suriname.

Also in the championships are Racing FC of Haiti, Scholars International of the Cayman Islands, along with Cibao of the Dominican Republic and Guadeloupe’s CS Moulien, who will seek honours in their grouping.

Meanwhile Antigua and Barbuda’s Hoppers, Portmore United of Jamaica, Unite Sainte Rosierre – Guadeloupe and Police of Montserrat, make up another of the groups, with Montego Bay of Jamaica, Flames United – St Maarten, Barcelona Atletico – Dominican Republic and Elite – Cayman Islands make up the championships’ other group.

The annual CFU Club Championships are played among the two top teams from the respective national tournaments held by member associations of the Caribbean Football Union.(RT)
