IT-DAT Academy dominant in NACAC 10K local segment
Athletes from the IT- DAT Academy won four of the five pools of the local segment of the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletics Association (NACAC) Chatoyer Endurance 10k, staged in the North Leeward area and which began at Gordon Yard and ended at the Chateaubelair Playing Field.{{more}}
Titles pouched by IT- DAT were the male and female Under-20, as well as the female 20 plus.
Akani Slater, who placed second in 2015, was first this time, clocking 45 minutes 27.60 seconds.
IT-DAT Academy also held down the second spot, through Slyford Lampkinâs clocking of 49 minutes 26.10 seconds, while Sabato Mc Dowald of X-Cel was third in 51 minutes 49.90 seconds.
Tamara Woodley of IT-DAT Academy won the female Under-20 in 1 hour 10 minutes 57.40 seconds. Shaquilla Laborde of the Petit Bordel Secondary placed second in 1 hour 14 minutes 44.30 seconds and Amanda Solomon of the Central Leeward Secondary was third in 1 hour 18 minutes 20.1 seconds.
The three top finishers in this category earned, $400, $200 and $150, respectively.
The other title for IT- DAT Academy went to Sorenya Miller, who won the females 20 and over in 1 hour 8 minutes 21.50 seconds. Second place went to Heather Higgins, a Peace Corp volunteer. Miller gained $600 and Higgins â $300.
IT-DAT Academy repeated the team award of $300, an award set aside for the team with the lowest computed score, when the position of the first three athletes from each team crossing the finish, in which one must be a female.
Eluding IT-DAT Academy was the male 20 and over, which saw Cyron Lewis of X-Cel triumphant in 44 minutes 21.60 seconds. Lewis pocketed $600.
IT-DAT Academy, though, took the other two places in Mesach Dublin â 45 minutes 49.90 and Caswell Lewis â 46 minutes 29.40 seconds, receiving $300 and $200, respectively.
And, the first athlete to reach the halfway mark at Coulls Hill was Petit Bordel Secondaryâs Markie Edwards, thus earning himself US$100.(RT)
