Clinchers make double win in TBPO Softball Cricket

Nice Radio Clinchers went unbeaten in their two matches played last Saturday and Sunday at the Dauphine Playing Field, in the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organization’s 20/20 Softball Cricket Compe-tition.{{more}}

On Saturday, Clinchers won by six wickets from EZ Woods Toppers.

Batting first, Toppers were shackled for 69 for 6 in 15 overs, with Marcus Hackshaw getting 22 and Kenroy Martin – 18.

Bowling for Clinchers, Danroy Fergus took 2 for 1 and Okeiph Andrews 2 for 14.

In reply, Clinchers reached 70 for 4 in 9.5 overs; Okeiph Andrews made 35, while Benjamin Forbes took 2 for 8, bowling for Toppers.

Clinchers returned to the venue on Sunday to add another win, this time swamping Computec Older Boys by 142 runs.

Clinchers rattled up 208 for 8 in 20 overs. Winston Patterson – 61 not out, Brent Saunders – 28, Sherman Bailey – 27 and Roger Gibson – 20, were the main contributors.

Bowling for Older Boys, Cassius Welcome took 2 for 10 and Keith Constance, 2 for 53.

Older Boys’ response stopped at 66 for 7 in 20 overs. Ashford Wood stroked 27.

Okeiph Andrews had 3 for 8 and Sherman Bailey 2 for 2, bowling for Clinchers.

There were wins for CGM Gallagher Novice on Saturday, while defending champions Gairy’s Construction registered theirs on Sunday.

Novice overcame Bank of SVG All Stars by 29 runs in Saturday’s second fixture.

Novice got up to 129 for 3 in 17 overs, thanks to Renrick Williams – 37 not out, Roderick John – 37 and Erwin Williams – 29.

All Starz were 100 all out in 16.5 overs. Andrew Little made 27 and Nyron Da Souza – 20.

Bowling for Novice, Erwin Williams had 2 for 6 and Newbourne Joseph – 2 for 11.

And on Sunday, Simple Boyz registered a nine-wicket win over Sunset Strikers.

Sunset Strikers scored 63 all out in 13.4 overs, undone by the bowling of Travis Cumberbatch, who took 4 for 7, Kentish Phillips, 2 for 8, Kimanie Thomas, 2 for 10 and Oswald Soleyn, 2 for 22.

In reply, Simple Boys reached 66 for 1 in 5.4 overs, with Xavique Alexander – 24, not out and Jabarri Cunningham – 24.(RT)
